Forever Wedding Ceremony

Declaration of Consent (Optional)

Who brings this woman to join with this man in marriage today?

Greeting / Welcoming Words

Greetings and welcome to the ceremony that will unite BRIDE and GROOM in marriage. We are gathered here, not to witness the beginning of what will be, but rather to encourage and support what already is. We celebrate with them the wondrous and joyful occurrence that has already taken place in their lives.

GROOM and BRIDE, your bond was first formed when the two of you chose to combine your separate lives into one. You have made a mutual commitment to love each other in an atmosphere of care and consideration and respect. You are partners in life, working together to bring out the best in each other, and for each other, and striving to be the most you can.

This ceremony marks the moment when the relationship you have been creating gains a new, richer meaning. Your shared experiences have brought you together and forged this bond of love. From this day forward you will come closer together than ever before.

A Special Moment for Friends and Family

For the families of BRIDE and GROOM, this is a special day in your lives as well as theirs. In addition to the union of their hearts, this ceremony marks the joining of their families, merging their heritages into a single future. Your relationships with them and with each other have shaped the people they have become, and will continue to shape the couple they will be.

The friends who share this day with GROOM and BRIDE have been the community with whom they have shared both good and bad times. The bonds of your friendships will be even stronger and more meaningful because of your participation in their wedding. Today you will witness and confirm the primacy of their friendship and love for each other.

Will you, the family and friends of GROOM and BRIDE, pledge to give them your continuing support, your love and your understanding as they work to build a happy and enduring marriage? If so, please say, “We will.”

The Charge / Question of Intention

BRIDE and GROOM, before you express your words of love and commitment to each other, I will ask each of you your intent.

Do you pledge to each other to be loving friends and partners in marriage? To talk and to listen, to trust and appreciate one another; to respect and cherish each other’s uniqueness, and to support, comfort, and strengthen each other through life’s joys and sorrows?

Do you promise to share your hopes, thoughts, and dreams with each other as you build your lives together? (We do.)

Wedding Vows

BRIDE and GROOM, as an expression that your hearts are joined together in love, please face each other and join your hands.

GROOM, if you wish to take BRIDE as your wife, then please repeat after me:

I, GROOM, take you, BRIDE, to be my wife, my partner in life and my one true love.
I will cherish our friendship and love you today, tomorrow, and forever.
I will trust you and honor you.
I will laugh with you and cry with you.
I will love you faithfully,
Through the best and the worst,
Through the difficult and the easy.
Whatever may come I will always be there.
As I have given you my hand to hold
So I give you my life to keep.

BRIDE, if you wish to take GROOM as your husband, then please repeat after me:

I, BRIDE, take you, GROOM, to be my husband, my partner in life and my one true love.

Exchange of Wedding Rings

May I have the rings?

The wedding ring symbolizes unity, a circle unbroken, without beginning or end. And today GROOM and BRIDE exchange these rings as confirmation of their vows to join their lives, to work at all times to create a life that is complete and unbroken, and to love each other without end.

Bless these rings that BRIDE and GROOM, who give them and who wear them, may ever abide in unity, love and happiness for the rest of their lives.

GROOM, place the ring on BRIDE’s left hand and repeat after me:

BRIDE, I give you this ring as a reminder
That I will love, honor, and cherish you,
In all times,
In all places,
And in all ways… forever.

BRIDE, place the ring on GROOM’s left hand and repeat after me:

GROOM, I give you this ring as a reminder
That I will love, honor, and cherish you,
In all times,
In all places,
And in all ways… forever.

Benediction

BRIDE and GROOM, remember It should never be said of either of you that you show more concern for a friend than you do for each other. More kindness, gentleness, and concern needs to be shown in the privacy of your own home than anywhere else. Indeed, your home should be a haven from all the confusion and craziness the world will create.

May you always be able to talk things over, to confide in each other, to laugh with one another, to enjoy life together, and to share moments of quiet and peace when the day is done.

May your marriage be a place in which you share your joys so that they may be multiplied, and your pain so that it may be divided.

May you be blessed with a lifetime of happiness and a home of warmth and understanding.

Pronouncement as Husband and Wife

GROOM and BRIDE, by the authority vested in me by the State of California, with the support of your families and friends, by the vows you have made to one another, and by the strength of your covenant, it is my pleasure to pronounce you husband and wife.

You may seal your promise with a kiss.

Ladies and Gentlement, it is my honor and pleasure to present to you, GROOM and BRIDE, husband and wife!
